Our Bible Study Process
What comes to mind for you when you hear ‘bible study’? We’d like to help everyone get on the same page to have a successful bible study together and calm any fears about what to expect.
All of our bible studies will generally operate according to the same process so that each study is similar and aligns with our ministry philosophy and doctrinal beliefs.

1. Greeting
It is important that we get to know each other before diving in. Bible study is a different format than church, where we can get to know each other in a more personal way. It’s a great way to make friends!
Get to know each other.
Welcome any guests.
Introduce bible study process.
Invite everyone to church.
2. Read
We cannot study what we do not know, so we must first read the text together before working through it for application. This part helps us become familiar with the contents of what we will study.
First we read it independently, silently.
Then we read it together, one at a time.
Lastly, we have someone read all the verses.
Note: Using the same bible is important. We always have extra bibles and encourage everyone to use the KJV for consistency and word study.
3. Theme
It is important to discover a 'theme' of what the group of verses mean. The theme will set the vision for study and keep everything focused on what the text is saying.
How to Discover the Theme
Look for repetitive words.
What are these verses saying?
Try to summarize it in one sentence.
4. Dissection
After the theme, we will break the passage into ‘chunks’ of thought. It helps us organize our study into a few main points, which all support the theme. To identify the chunks, look for natural breaks in punctuation, changes in word use, or logical flow.
Break the passage into chunks
Study through the chunks
Uses word studies to define words
5. Application
Every time that we study the scriptures, there should be something that we’ve learned or a way that God is using His word to direct us (Psalm 119:105). The personal application can never violate the doctrinal teaching.
We ask questions like…
How can you apply what we've studied?
Are you moved by anything you've read?
Is there anything that you'd like to share?
6. Pray
Since we seek to make some kind of personal application in the word of God, it is important to ask for God's help to apply it right away. We share prayer requests with each other as we feel led, then we conclude with a final prayer.
